Marketing On Zero Budget, Is It Possible?
Oh Yes!! With the right mindset and GRIT it is definitely possible to market if you’re on a tight or Zero budget.
This is what I love about the digital economy, it basically comes down to your imagination and ability to be your own leader. In the end it’s all about the value you can bring.
Marketing is in its essence, Helping people find solutions to their problems.
And this is something you can do without spending a fortune. All that’s needed is your wits, grit and ability to understand people and their needs.
The difference between physical and digital marketing
In this moving, open and rapidly developing landscape it is easy to get lost. What helps me to focus and see it all clearly is this: In the end it’s the same as if we would be all in one big open square. People with problems or wishes and people with solutions to these problems and wishes. We as marketers are the matchmakers between these two groups.
Since we are in the digital room, our vision is confined by the screen we watch. We don’t have the possibility to stand up and look over to the other side of the square as we would in the physical world. With this said we have many different screens and feeds in front of us every day and this in turn gives us other opportunities to reach people. As I said before, only our imagination and the ideas we get is our limitation.
Another difference between the physical square and the digital feed is relevance and relationship. Since the time we spend and the content we watch on our digital arena is confined to the personal feed of each person, being allowed to stay a regular part in someone’s digital feed is a big deal and is like being invited to someone’s home. It is personal and like being a friend.
To build a relevant and long term relationship takes time, perseverance and people skills. As a marketer you need to be able to put yourself in your audience’s shoes and understand what they want to see everyday, what makes them happy and what problems they have so you can find good solutions to them.
But it’s not just to share a link to the solution in the feed and that’s it. You need to tell your audience about the solution in an authentic and honest way that is relevant for them.
As you see this is a lot more about people skills than digital skills. And whether or not you go with the Zero budget strategies or Paid Marketing, this is equally important.
Strategies to start marketing with a Zero Budget
Social media and Network marketing – If you are a social animal and get energy from interaction
- Starting an Instagram account or a Facebook page is free.
- Join existing groups or create a group around an interest or theme where you can bring value and help people with solutions to their problems.
- Read posts, get to know your audience, what is important for them, how do they think, what do they like, don’t like, what unspoken problems do they have?
- Be an authentic part of the community and bring value to the people you engage with. Remember that it is like you’re invited into their home.
- Interact with and be an authentic part of the community
- Only promote solutions that you TRULY and HONESTLY think will help them.
- Grow your following. 🙂
Blogging/SEO – If you are a born writer ready to be free
- Start a free blogg
- Choose a topic that interests you and you know you’re passionate about enough to write about for years on end.
- Make a “picture” of your audience, who do you want to write for? Get to know them and how they think so that you can make your valuable posts relevant for your audience.
- Write, Share, Write, Share
- Study SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and how to think when you create your posts.
- Include your solutions in your posts.
- Only promote solutions that you AUTHENTICALLY stand behind.
- Write, Share, Write, Share.
- Grow your following. 🙂
Vlogging/YouTube – If you are a video star or director soul
- Start a YouTube channel
- Choose a topic that interests you and you know you’re passionate about enough to talk and share about for years on end.
- Make a “picture” of your audience, who you want o reach? Get to know them and how they think so that you can make your valuable videos relevant for your audience.
- Decide if you want to be on camera or use other ways to create your videos, eg. Sketch movies
- Record, Edit, Share, Record, Edit, Share.
- Study YouTube videos and how to think when you create them to make them awesome.
- Include your solutions in your videos.
- Only promote solutions that you AUTHENTICALLY stand behind.
- Record, Edit, Share, Record, Edit, Share.
- Grow your following. 🙂
Avoid the trap that many falls into!
Whichever path is right for you remember to keep you business sense alert. Where many bloggers, vloggers, YouTubers and social media folks fall short is on how to monetize their efforts in a long term sustainable way in order to be able to live of it.
Make your work worth while, learn how to think and make money off of the value you bring
Since we as marketers take the role of matchmaking a person’s problem with another person’s solution, we bring value to both those parties. But it’s easy to do this without you ALSO getting value from it.
Finding products and services that are helpful is easy, but we need to find the ones that have a business structure behind it that brings you as a marketer an income as well. Look for solutions and business that follow the high ticket formula. This is what will make the difference for your future to be able to help find solutions and bring value to your audience full time.
